A Tribute to Andrew Speight: The Ralph Moore and Roy McCurdy Quartet

Students, proteges, peers and friends gather for a week of music to celebrate the spirit and legacy of Alto Saxophonist and Bay Area luminary Andrew Speight. This quartet assembles some of the veteran artists with whom Andrew last recorded. Together with Matt Clark-Piano and Billy Edwards-bass, this Ralph Moore and Roy McCurdy Quartet celebrates Andrew’s irrepressible spirit and constant drive to bring musicians together and to document and advocate for the artists and the art form that propelled his lifelong journey in jazz music.

Roy has recorded with; Sonny Rollins, Art Farmer and Benny Golson Jazztet, Bobby Timmons, Cannonball Adderley, Nat Adderley, Joe Zawinul, Blood Sweat and Tears, Kenny Rankin, Bobby Shew, Conte Condoli, Mark Murphy,Sarah Vaughn, Nancy Wilson, Scott Hamilton, Art Farmer Quartet,Benny Golson Sextet, Count Basie, Eddie “Cleanhead” Vinson, John Klemmer, Betty Carter, Kenny Burrell, Horace Silver and Chuck Mangione, John Pizzarelli and Kelly Clarkson to name a few.

Happy Hour 5pm – 6pm. Shows begin at 7pm and 9pm.

Tickets: $30 per show

Students and IMA Members can purchase tickets for $15 in person for the 7pm and 9pm shows and may attend 11pm shows free of charge (with proof of valid ID).
