The sound of Heart Matter starts with soothing, lush vocals and the entrancing, mythical waves of vibraphone, weaving compositions that are both virtuosic and uplifting. Co-led by vocalist Amy D and vibraphonist Dillon Vado, the band is celebrating both one year of music at Keys Jazz Bistro and the first public appearance with the new name, Heart Matter. 

Heart Matter guides listeners into a state of deep and honest feeling, centering the unifying, healing qualities of sound.

Heart Matter’s innovative, original sounds combine the intentionality of chamber music with the grounded yet agile nature of Brazilian rhythm, the spontaneity of jazz improvisation, and soul-stirring lyrics. 

The infectiously funky nature of Esperanza Spalding, the lyrical depth of Joni Mitchell, and the catchy/memorable melodies of The Beatles and Paul Simon are some of the influences that this bold and original project nod towards in their compositions and performances.

After recent sold out sets at the San Jose Jazz Summer Fest and Healdsburg Jazz Festival, Heart Matter is excited to invite you on this exploration of sound and complex emotion at Keys on Friday November 10th!

Happy Hour 5pm – 6pm. First come, first serve seating. Shows begin at 7pm and 9pm.

Tickets: $30 per show

Students and IMA Members can purchase tickets for $15 in person for the 7pm and 9pm shows and may attend 11pm shows free of charge (with proof of valid ID).
