Jazz pianist Larry Vuckovich and multi-reed saxophonist Noel Jewkes have a long term close association – going back 60 years. It began in 1965 when they joined the Poet Laureate of Jazz/1 of the greatest jazz and scat singers, Jon Hendricks. They toured with him throughout the US and Canada recording with Jon acclaimed CD, Reunion.
Separately, Noel and Larry have recorded a number of highly reviewed CDs, one of them young at heart – a tribute to Lester, in which the top New York critic Gary Giddins praised Noel as a true Youngian (spelling). On Larry’s recording, something special, they recorded Tadd Dameron’s beautiful ballad to dedicated to Trane, Soultrane. Upon hearing this track, great Bebop master Barry Harris called Larry immediately asking for Noel’s phone number to praise him.……
At Keys Noel and Larry will be along with the swinging bassist Doug Miller, will perform a wide-ranging program of classic Bebop, contemporary jazz, originals + more.
