Winner of 15 Grammy Awards, tenor saxophonist Michael Brecker’s unique voice influenced every jazz saxophonist.
This evening, superstar trumpeter Randy Brecker will celebrate his brother’s acoustic jazz compositions originally written for quartet, joined by first-call San Francisco saxophonist Tod Dickow with the Bay Area trio Charged Particles.
Michael’s biographer said that their recording (“Live at the Baked Potato!”) is “staggering in its authenticity.” Randy said the recording is “smoking and intense from beginning to end.” Downbeat said it offers “exciting, satisfying stuff”, and the record was named among the top jazz CDs of 2021 by numerous publications.
Randy and the quartet played sold out performances at Ronnie Scott’s, Birdland, Blues Alley, Dazzle, the Scarborough Jazz Festival, and more.
Nippertown Magazine said their Albany Riverfront Jazz Festival was “often thrilling” and “the peak set of the day”. The Oxford Times said their performance was “brilliant”.
