Lorca Hart’s vision is to provide deepening creative musical experiences for himself and others. His career as both a performer and a teacher has been dedicated to the craft of drumming, Jazz tradition and history, and ensemble collaboration.
Mr. Hart received his BFA from California Institute of the Arts in 1996. He was deeply inspired by teacher/mentors including Albert “Tootie” Heath, Joe La Barbera, Charlie Haden, Wadada Leo Smith, and many others. Lorca continues to be inspired by music education now as a faculty member for numerous musical education venues including Stanford Jazz Workshop, Mt. San Antonio College, SF Jazz and many other musical clinics and workshops. Additionally, Lorca teaches privately at his drum studio.
Lorca is excited for his debut as a leader at Key’s!His quartet features Ralph Moore (Freddie Hubbard, Horace Silver, Cedar Walton), Josh Nelson (Ivan Lins, Natalie Cole, Rufus Wainwright) and Edwin Livingston (Elvin Jones, Ellis Marsalis, Keiko Matsui).The Quartet will be playing tunes that Lorca composed for the Chamber Music America “New Jazz Works” grant, as well as material from their critically acclaimed 2020 release “Colors of Jazz”. “West Coast drummer Lorca Hart presents a collection of vibrant traditional jazz on the exciting Colors of Jazz…” Edward Blanco, All About Jazz.

Happy Hour 5pm – 6pm. First come, first serve seating. Shows begin at 7pm and 9pm.
Tickets: $25 per show
Students and IMA Members can purchase tickets for $15 in person for the 7pm and 9pm shows and may attend 11pm shows free of charge (with proof of valid ID).
