Pianist & composer Anne Sajdera celebrates the release of her third album, It’s Here, a treasure trove of elegant and groove-filled originals and arrangements for jazz quintet. This evening’s performance features the same masterful band that appears on the recording: Mike Olmos (trumpet), Jesse Levit (alto sax), Gary Brown (bass), and Deszon Claiborne (drums).Â
As a pianist and composer, Anne Sajdera is a creative force whose music encompasses an unusually far-flung array of traditions. Her first release, Azul (Bijuri Records, 2012) was co produced by Ray Obiedo and featured a performance from percussion legend Airto Moreira, earning a spot on JAZZIZ Magazines Top Ten Critic’s Poll for 2012. Her second release, New Year (Bijuri Records, 2018), features two composer/instrumentalists from Prague and a guest appearance by the renowned sax player Bob Mintzer. Also produced by Ray Obiedo, it was chosen by Down Beat Magazine for the December 2018 Editor’s Pick list. She has performed in many of the the Bay Area’s most frequented venues including Herbst Theater and SFJAZZ, and in 2020, in a concert with master violinist Kala Ramnath in Dubai. Sajdera’s newest album, It’s Here (Bijuri Records, 2024), was supported in part by a grant from Intermusic SF, and has just now started making its way across the radio airwaves in the US, Europe, and Japan.
