Robert is hosting the first of our monthly Independent Musicians Alliance (IMA)  showcase and Jam Session events. This event is free to IMA members and only $15 for all others.(A portion of ticket sales will be donated to the IMA). Robert’s trio will present the 7pm show and will welcome other IMA members to the stage for the 9pm show.

Robert Kennedy is a Hammond organist, pianist, and accordionist born and raised in the American South and resident in the Bay Area since 1988. He has released two albums as a bandleader on Hammond Organ; his 2018 album “Closer to Home” was widely heard, peaking at #1 on RMR’s jazz chart.

Robert’s Jazz Organ Trio is built around the soul jazz and hard bop of the middle 20th century, drawing from players like Lee Morgan, Herbie Hancock, Hank Mobley, Horace Silver, and of course the greats of the Hammond organ: Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff, Charles Earland. Along the way the group makes frequent forays into blues, funk, TV themes, pop tunes, and originals.

For his Keys Jazz Bistro debut, Robert will be joined by drummer Rick Rivera, a long-time fixture on the bay-area jazz scene, and guitarist Patrick Greene, also an eclectic bay-area mainstay in guitar performance and education whose debut album “Smooth Corners” shows his prowess and love in the jazz organ / guitar / drums format.
