Sherri Roberts Quartet feat. Harvey S.

San Francisco vocalist Sherri Roberts welcomes New York bassist Harvie S back to the Bay for a rare live performance of two longtime compadres and collaborators.

Sherri and Harvie will be joined on the bandstand with Keys Bistro favorites, David Udolf on piano and Akira Tana on drums. These four consummate musicians are fresh off a new recording session in New York City – following up their 2017 release, Anybody’s Spring. Having enjoyed a musical relationship for years, the easy interplay and natural rapport of these old friends and bandmates promises to be on full display for this special reunion evening.

Called “A superior bop and standards vocalist” by the Los Angeles Times, Sherri is deeply influenced by the West Coast Cool vocal style of the ’50’s, while Harvie cut his musical teeth on the bandstand as a distinguished leader and sideman with countless East Coast jazz heavyweights. They’ve bridged this geographic divide over the decades by co-producing four (soon to be 5!) recordings that “demonstrate(s) the synergy two empathetic artists can share when the stars are in line.” (All About Jazz.)

Harvie S is an award winning bassist and veteran of the jazz and Latin scenes, and he’s recorded and toured with the likes of Kenny Barron, Stan Getz, Karrin Allyson, Pat Martino and John Scofield among many others. His innovative creative partnership with Sheila Jordan redefined bass/vocal performance.
